PSPH, MAHE, MSW PROGRAMME STUDENTS CREATES AWARNESS PROGRAMME DURING RURAL CAMP IN PLAKKAD

Manipal, 7 th February 2023: MSW programme students from Prasanna School of Public Health, MAHE successfully completed rural camp in Palakkad, Kerala partnering with Peoples Service Society of Palakkad. The 5 days camp included visits to various organisations and institutions namely Jan Shikshan Sansthan vocational training programme (an undertaking of GOI), Malampuzha Providence Home, Kripa Sadan home for aged, Government Tribal Special hospital at Attapadi, Akathethara Panchayat and Rural Public Health Centre.

The rural camp was attended by 27 MSW students and 10 Global Health students from Maastricht University, The Netherlands. The students created awareness programme on ‘good touch and bad touch’ among primary students in Government School of Ummini, Palakkad and also spread the negative effects of use of tobacco products on family and society in an ‘Anti- Tobacco Campaign’ through cultural forms of street play and mime collaborating with Palakkad Police The Rural camp was inaugurated by Mrs Sunitha Ananthakrishnan, President Gram Panchyath, Akathethara, Fr Mathew Vazhayil – Director, Yuvakshetra Institute of Management Studies Plakkad was the chief Guest. Fr Joseph Justine Director, PSSP, Mrs Ida Dsouza and Mr Alric Dsouza Faculty, MSW programme, PSPH, MAHE were mentors during the Rural camp.
